Terms of Use
Last updated: October 9, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Tate Rivers Silcox ("we", "us") for the PillTap app ("PillTap"). By downloading or using PillTap, you agree to these Terms, the Medical Disclaimer & Safety notice, and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use PillTap.
Important: PillTap is a reminder and record-keeping tool, not medical advice or a medical device. In an emergency, call 911. If you have a reaction to a medication, call 911 or your doctor. If you took too much, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
1. Who can use PillTap
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live), or use PillTap with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian. If you use PillTap to track someone else's medications, you are responsible for having their permission (or being their parent or guardian) and for their care.
2. Not medical advice
PillTap does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not replace your doctor, pharmacist or medication labels. Always follow your health care provider's instructions and the directions on your medication. Talk to your doctor before making any medical decision. The Medical Disclaimer & Safety notice in the app is part of these Terms.
3. You are responsible for your medications
You are responsible for:
- entering, checking and keeping your medications, schedules, doses and limits accurate;
- taking your medications correctly, whether or not PillTap reminds you or warns you;
- keeping a backup way to remember important medications, because alarms, notifications, NFC stickers and your iPhone can fail;
- checking any information PillTap fills in (from its built-in list or from reading a label) against your label and your prescriber's directions;
- placing NFC stickers safely, without covering label information, and keeping them away from children and pets.
You use PillTap at your own risk.
4. Sharing with a caregiver
If you share someone's medications with a caregiver, you are responsible for choosing who to invite, for having the right to share that information, and for removing access when it should end. A caregiver sees only what was logged, and caregiver alerts depend on both iPhones, iCloud and the internet, so they can be late or not come at all. A caregiver's view is not a substitute for care or supervision. If you are a caregiver, keep the information you see private and use it only to help the person who shared it.
5. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use PillTap on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (including Family Sharing). You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, or distribute PillTap, or use it for any unlawful purpose, except as the law allows despite this limit.
6. Purchases
PillTap is free for up to 3 medications. PillTap Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that removes that limit and lets you share with a caregiver. It is not a subscription. During your first 7 days after first opening PillTap, Pro may be offered at a lower launch price. Pro is available to your family through Apple's Family Sharing, and you can restore it on your other devices with Restore Purchase. Apple processes the payment under its own terms, and refund requests are handled by Apple. Prices and what Pro includes may change for future purchases; we will not take away a feature you already bought Pro for, except where needed for safety, security or legal reasons, or if we stop offering PillTap.
7. Your data
Your information is stored on your iPhone and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own iCloud account, as explained in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for your iPhone's security and for backing up your data. We are not responsible for data that is lost, for example if you delete the app, lose your iPhone, or turn off backups.
8. No warranty
PillTap is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and that PillTap will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that alarms, reminders, warnings or built-in information will be accurate or delivered on time. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all such warranties.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, illness, loss of health, or loss of data, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, PillTap, including missed, late, extra or incorrect doses, failed alarms, notifications or caregiver alerts, missing or incorrect warnings, or incorrect medication information, even if we were told such damages were possible.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to PillTap is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for PillTap in the 12 months before the claim, or US $10.
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions or limits, so they may not all apply to you. In that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims by others arising from your misuse of PillTap or your violation of these Terms.
11. Changes and ending these Terms
We may update PillTap, change or remove features, or stop offering it. We may update these Terms; we will change the date at the top, and if the changes are important, PillTap will ask you to agree again. If you do not agree to new Terms, stop using PillTap and delete it. You can end these Terms at any time by deleting PillTap. Sections 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13 continue after these Terms end.
12. Trademarks
Medication names and brands shown in PillTap (for example Advil, Tylenol or Ozempic) are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify those products. PillTap is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by them. Apple, iPhone, Siri and Face ID are trademarks of Apple Inc. NFC stickers are sold by other companies; we are not responsible for them.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of the place you live requires otherwise. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Utah, or in small claims court where you live, unless the law of the place you live gives you a right to bring it elsewhere.
14. Apple terms
These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). If you got PillTap from the Apple App Store:
- Acknowledgement. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for PillTap and its content.
- Maintenance and support. We alone are responsible for any maintenance and support of PillTap. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support.
- Warranty. To the extent any warranty is not effectively disclaimed, we, not Apple, are responsible for it. If PillTap fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for PillTap. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to PillTap, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent they are not disclaimed.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to PillTap or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that PillTap fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that PillTap or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using PillTap, such as your wireless carrier's terms.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. When you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
15. General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a part of these Terms is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor, such as a company that takes over PillTap. These Terms, the Medical Disclaimer & Safety notice and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about PillTap.
